Some crazy finishes tonight as the first games of each group wrapped up...
-South Africa was off to a flying start, taking a 2-0 lead on United Arab Emirates with two goals from Kermit Eramus, but the UAE, playing close to home, never gave up. Down two goals into second half stoppage time, Hamad el Kamali cut into the South African lead at 90 +1 by converting a penalty, that was seemingly going to be a consilation goal. At 90+3, Ahmed Ali played a brilliant cross for a charging Theyab Awana, who placed his header perfectly into the far post, sending the pro-UAE crowd into a frenzy
-Honduras played in the last of the first round of games, taking on Hungary in the night's late game. Mario Martinez scored two impressive goals to give Honduras a 2-0 lead, and Arnold Peralta scored a 35-yard bomb to make it a 3-0 final. Honduras became the only CONCACAF team to win their opener here in Egypt, as Costa Rica fell to Brazil 5-0.
