WNT Feb 28, 2010
Just a short training today and the field wasn't that wet due to the amazing winds that have been blowing through the Algarve region (which when not paired with rain, do help dry out the fields). The day also featured the most sun the team has seen so far, which made for a nice training atmosphere. The players did some passing patterns to warm up and then played a 6 v 2 game in two grids that we would explain if we were Soccer Journal, but since we're just the WNT Blog, it's a game to develop rhythm and keep possession. The team then did some shooting, some more shooting, played 4 v. 4 on big goals and ended with some set plays. Such is a day before game training. It still amazing that even though the fields have been wet and muddy, not a drop of rain has fallen on the team during a training or a game. Still, the rain came in the afternoon and the evening and it came hard, meaning the field in Ferreiras tomorrow certainly won't be dry...and probably very mushy. But as they said in this game of soccer, it's the game for both teams and up to the players to deal with the adverse conditions.
