Larentowicz and Dempsey with Revs teammates in 2006
Two former New England Revolution midfielders met up for the first time in nearly five years as Clint Dempsey and Jeff Larentowicz are in camp together here in Brussels.
The two were teammates for two years in 2005 and 2006, Larentowicz signing up as a rookie in the first year and Dempsey departing for Fulham following the second. They went to consecutive MLS Cup finals together, and while they didn't win the trophy, Larentowicz finally captured the title as member of the Colorado Rapids in 2010.
Both players were happy to make the reunion.
"When the list comes out I always look for people that I know, and Clint was one of them," said Larentowicz. "He is somebody I haven't seen in a long time. To see him now and for him to have done so well since i've last seen him is great. He's moved on in life. He's married, he has children and he has established himself in England. It's been good to see him."
Clint was equally thrilled to look back on his time with New England.
"It's good to see old teammates, and we had a really good group of guys with the Revs," said Dempsey. "Jeff's done well for himself. He's got an MLS title under his belt. My time with the Revs is something I always look back on with fond memories. To go to three MLS Cup finals in a row shows we had something good going."
