The first round is done for the USA at the 2010 CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifying tournament and the USA rolled through the three matches while scoring 18 goals. Next up is the big challenge, a game for a berth in the Women's World Cup against either Canada or Mexico. Both teams pounded Guyana and got good wins over T&T. Tomorrow, they will meet for first place in the group. The USA will get three days of rest, which will be much needed after three games in five days, although U.S. head coach Pia Sundhage and her staff did a good job of spreading the minutes around. All 18 field players on the roster saw action over the three games. One other highlight from the game...the first career goal for Yael Averbuch. A GREAT free kick. Congrats Yael.
Ali Krieger played 90 minutes at right back
Here she beats CRC captain Shirley Cruz in the air
Costa Rica goalkeeper Dinnia Diaz was injured during this collision with Lauren Cheney. You can see her knee is bending in an awkward manner. Diaz played on, but had to leave the match six minutes later.
