Goalkeeper Bill Hamid saved four shots to lead D.C. United to a 2-0 win last weekend.
This past weekend was all about previously injured U.S. Soccer Development Academy alumni making their returns to the lineup in Major League Soccer play.
Former D.C. United Academy player Bill Hamid started for the first time in league action since D.C. United’s season opener and the first time since the U.S. U-23 Men’s National Team’s Olympic Qualifying in late March when he injured his ankle. Hamid made four saves and posted a clean sheet during a 2-0 victory against Toronto.
Academy alum Juan Agudelo returned to the pitch for the New York Red Bulls during their 1-0 win against defending MLS Cup winner LA Galaxy on Saturday. Agudelo replaced Jan Gunnar Solli in the 82nd minute. Agudelo is recovering from left knee surgery and is listed as probable for the team’s Wednesday match against the Houston Dynamo.
