WNT Jan 18, 2010
U.S. head coach Pia Sundhage invited 26 players (including four goalkeepers) to this camp, but training kicked off with just 24. Midfielder Megan Rapinoe is sick and may or may not join the U.S. team later during what will be an almost three week camp. We hope she recovers soon and can come in for some quality training. In her stead, Sundhage has called up defender Nikki Krzysik, who is currently training at The Home Depot Center with the U.S. U-23 WNT. Krzysik, a veteran of two youth World Cups for the USA, gets her first call-up to the full team. She'll just switch locker rooms and join the U.S. team tomorrow or Tuesday. She played last season for the Chicago Red Stars but was taken in the WPS Expansion Draft by the Philadelphia Independence. Chicago Red Stars forward Ella Masar also missed the first day of camp as she was "fogged in" down there in Champaign, Ill., where she went to college. And when you get fogged in in Champaign, there is not much you can do. We'll see her tomorrow.
