When U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann talks of players competing in the biggest competitions, he could ask for no better for young U.S. internationals Edgar Castillo and Joe Corona. The duo will travel a road that few Americans have experienced when they take part in the prestigious Copa Libertadores, the South American version of the UEFA Champions League that has crowned the club champion of the region since 1960.
The tournament fuses the challenges of intense competition, a crowded schedule, sometimes arduous travel and unpredictability that add seasoning to growing professionals.
The Liga MX champions are joined in the group phase by current South American and Club World Cup champion Corinthians from Brazil, Colombian champion Millonarios and Bolivian league runners up San Jose.
Club Tijuana made the eight-hour trip to Botoga to face Millonarios, and you can watch live from Estadio El Campín at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX Deportes.
