The U-17/18 age group kicks off this morning and crews were busy putting the finishing touches on the event, setting up Gatorade stations, getting the U.S. Soccer Store situated and putting together the social media boards where photos that players post via Twitter will be featured all weekend along with a cool graphic featuring the name of every player and their team stretched across a large board.
Starting at 10 a.m. ET today, and running through 1:15 p.m., 80 U-17/18 Academy clubs will hit the fields for 40 matches to kick off the event. The Nike International Friendlies also resume this afternoon for the second round of matches featuring Brazil vs. Portugal at 2 p.m. ET and the USA vs. Turkey at 5 p.m.
Expect a large crowd for the U.S. match with many Academy clubs likely returning to the fields to watch the game.
The U.S. Soccer Store is set up and ready to go with lots of sweet merch.
