WNT Mar 25, 2010
Rachel Buehler drove to the team hotel today from the house she grew up in. That would be in beautiful Del Mar, Calif., about 20 miles north of downtown San Diego. Buehler was an All-American at Torrey Pines High School and played for the powerhouse San Diego Surf club before going on to star at Stanford University and with the USA's youth national teams. She has worked (worked being the operative word as Buehler brings the hard hat and lunch bucket to training every day) her way to consistent roster spots for the U.S. National Team and into the starting lineup, and will likely get the chance to play in front of her hometown fans for the first time with the WNT this coming Sunday against Mexico. Keep a lookout on ussoccer.com's all_access video for a special hometown feature on Buehler in the coming days.
