WNT Dec 8, 2009
It is certainly not uncommon for the U.S. WNT players to do work for charities and donate their time to help and inspire children. But a donation back in March of used soccer cleats led to this very unique photo. The team gave the cleats to one of the WNT's videographers, Vanessa Smith, who in turn got them to the a friend who is doing some great work with kids in Ghana for CharSam House, part of which includes building an orphanage for the children of AIDS victims. So, all the way from Ghana, a thank you to the U.S. Women's Soccer Team! Soccer in Ghana is huge. The Black Stars are in the 2010 FIFA World Cup (with Germany, Australia and Serbia. Ouch!) and their women's team has gotten some good results over the past few African competitions. The moral of the story? You just never know when a small gesture can make a big difference. Pretty cool...
