Three of the four Central American entrants into the 2013 Gold Cup have now been decided as the group phase of the 2013 Copa Centroamericana is in the books. The tournament serves as qualifying for the Gold Cup, with the four semifinalists earning a spot in the confederation championship this summer.
Host country Costa Rica took the top spot in Group A, while Belize pulled off a surprise finish in second place and will participate in the Gold Cup for the first time.
Group B turned out to be as evenly matched as possible, with the three teams all finishing on two points. Honduras moved to the semifinals based on superior goal differential, while El Salvador and Panama finished even in every tie breaker and will not await a draw to see who gets the fourth spot.
