Aron Johannsson is firing on all cylinders this month
The Alkmaar pipeline to the U.S. Men's National Team is alive and humming.
Following a record-setting year for Jozy Altidore and is subsequent sale to Sunderland, striker Aron Johannsson has taken the reins in the goalscoring department. The Icelandic-American recorded a hat trick in the 4-1 win against Sparta Rotterdamn in the KNVB Cup, increasing his tally to nine goals in all competitions. An early sign of confidence in the young attacker is that he has assumed the responsibility of penalty taker for AZ, and he has responded by converting three times.
After successfully completing a change of association to represent the United States, he made his debut in the 4-3 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Aug. 14 in Sarajevo, and appeared as a sub in the World Cup Qualifier in Costa Rica.
