As youth players around the country get the chance to see the U.S. MNT in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it's only fitting that Academy players get the chance to make their own run at a championship.
To that end, U.S. Soccer is happy to present 2009-2010 Development Academy Playoffs. The top 32 teams from each age group have been drawn into eight groups of four for a round-robin tournament. Just like the World Cup, the goal is simple: advance out of your group. Finish on top, and your season continues with Finals Week in Los Angeles, California.
The first games kick off in just a few minutes, and the YNT Blog will be here all weekend with results, scenarios and plenty of behind the scenes access, so check back often to see how the games shake out. (You know, between following that OTHER game)
