WNT Sep 22, 2010
Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux, two of the heroes of the USA's title-winning run at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup have been united in a full WNT training camp for the first time. Leroux won the Golden Ball as top player and Golden Boot (five goals) as top scorer in 2008, and followed that up with a Bronze Boot (five more goals) in the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Morgan won the Bronze Ball and Bronze Shoe in 2008. Morgan is a senior at California, where she is tied as the nation's leading scorer with 10 goals while Leroux has six so far for UCLA, where she is a junior. The two speedy goal scorers are trying to make rosters for the USA's upcoming matches against China on Oct. 2 in Kennesaw, Ga., and Oct. 6 in Chester, Pa. For Morgan, her next appearance would be just her third for the full WNT. Leroux is looking for her first cap.
