In 2008, Landon Donovan became the all-time leading scorer for the Men's National Team when he converted a penalty in the USA's 2-0 win against Sweden here at The Home Depot Center.
Donovan's goal was his 35th, taking him past Eric Wynalda in the all-time chart. Since then Donovan has continued to find the net, and his record now stands at 46.
We asked Donovan about that record-setting goal after training on Tuesday:
"That was an awesome moment for me," he told the MNT Blog. "I knew going into the game that if I scored i'd become the all time leading scorer. Fortunately in the second half we got a penalty. I got to take it and made it. It was cool to do it and cool to do it here."
