Jose Villarreal scored twice as Pateadores won the 2011 U-17/18 Development Academy championship last year
A year ago, Jose Villarreal was scoring goals for Pateadores as his Academy club earned the 2011 U-17/18 Development Academy championship with a 2-1 win against FC Dallas in Milwaukee.
Now, Villarreal is scoring goals in Major League Soccer.
The 18-year-old, who signed a homegrown player contract with the LA Galaxy in December of 2011 and recently played with the Galaxy U-17/18 Academy team during the Development Academy Playoffs in June, scored his first professional goal on Wednesday night.
Trailing 2-1 late in the match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Villarreal received a nice flick in the box and was able to turn and hit a fantastic left-footed strike to the far corner.
Take a look at Jose’s golazo and watch his reaction. Not bad when you’re being congratulated on your first goal by Landon Donovan and David Beckham!
Pretty impressive from the Development Academy product, who only just made his professional debut as a late-game substitute in a 5-3 win against the Portland Timbers on July 14.
