The U.S. team took a walk after breakfast this morning and got a brief tour of Dresden, which has a beautiful historic city center despite being almost totally destroyed by bombing during World War II. The name Dresden comes from a word meaning "people of the riverside forest" and 63% of the city is green space/forest. There are also four nature preserves. The city dates back at least 800 years.
The Katholische Hofkirche, The Catholic Church of the Royal Court of Saxony
The Fürstenzug. The Saxon sovereigns depicted in Meissen porcellan. Very cool.
The Dresden Frauenkirche, literally Church of Our Lady. Dresden's population is also 51.3% female. Seems like an appropriate city for a Women's World Cup?
