Thanks to a Japanese fan who gave us this nugget of info:
While of course U.S. defender Kelley O'Hara's name is of Irish origins, there is a Japanese version as well:
And it is written like this:
It is pronounced (o-ha-ra) not (oh-hair-uh) and apparenlty it means "small field" which is ironic, as of course Kelley O'Hara likes big fields as the kid can run, and run, and run.
We just hope at the match that she is not announced as: "At defender for the USA, wearing number 5, Kelley Small Field!"
