Orzco Fiscal returns to the area where he grew up.
Michael Orozco Fiscal grew up in Orange, Calif. so the time in Southern California before tonight's game against Costa Rica has been a welcome return home for the defender currently playing for San Luis in the Mexico Primera Division.
"It's great," said Orozco Fiscal. "I have all my family out here as well as my parents. It's always motivating to be out here in California with the chance to play in front of your family and friends. My wife isn't out here right now because she's in Mexico, but she's supporting me from back there. All my friends are coming out and hopefully I can get a couple minutes in against Costa Rica and we can come out with the win."
It's been a busy week for the MNT as they get their first extended camp in with Jurgen Klinsmann. There hasn't been much time off but with one night on our own early in the week we asked Orzoco Fiscal what he was looking forward to most:
"The food," he told us emphatically. "And it's great to be with my mom and dad. They live about 20 minutes away and it's always great to catch up. My mom always cooks traditional food: enchiladas or carne asada."
And what about ticket requests? Tickets are always a hot commodity for games at the HDC. So many U.S. MNT players have friends and family out here.
"I got about 20 tickets for my family and close friends," said Orozco Fiscal. "Hopefully they can be there to support not just me but also the team. Besides just coming back home it's a dream come true to play with the U.S. national team here in California. Hopefully the team has a good game."
