Back in November of 2011, the U.S. held a joint U-23/U-20 camp in Duisburg, Germany. Coached by Tab Ramos, the experience was designed to get a look at the many of the European-based players in the pool as Olympic qualifying stood on the horizon. U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann made a day trip in between the friendlies against France and Slovenia to check out the charges.
As it turns out, six players on this current roster participated in that camp: Terrence Boyd, John Brooks, Joe Corona, Cody Cropper, Mix Diskerud, and Bobby Wood. For some, they hadn't seen each other since.
