LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (Nov. 30, 2011) – Brazil beat Turkey in the opening match of the ninth edition of the Nike International Friendlies with a 65th minute goal by Linik Santos.

Santos dribbled down the right side of the field, turned in front of goal and fired a shot into the top of the net to beat Turkey goalkeeper Anil Demir for the game-winner.

With the second match between the U.S. and France ending in a 2-2 draw, Brazil sits in first place in the tournament. The next matches will be on Dec. 2, with France and Brazil facing off at 2 p.m. ET and the U.S. taking on Turkey at 5 p.m. The U.S.’s match will be live on FOX Soccer, and fans can also follow along on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker or Twitter @ussoccer.

Brazil almost scored off a corner kick taken by Gabriel Penha in the 45th minute. Marcel Furtado headed it off the crossbar, but Demir was able to snag the rebound. Demir quickly started Turkey on the counter, but eventually Aziz Ceylan’s shot sailed over the top of the goal.

Turkey only forced Brazil goalkeeper Guilherme Serrano into one save the entire match.
