Academy Players of the Week for the Week of March 1

Player: Matthew LaGrassa
Position: Forward
Club: California Development Academy

Matthew LaGrassa contributed to California Development Academy’s recent winning streak, scoring goals in two cross-conference games for the Sacramento-based club. He amassed three goals this weekend; two against Irvine Strikers on Saturday and one while playing up with the U-17/18 team against LAFC Chelsea on Sunday. As the top team in the Northwest division, CDA will be tested this weekend with out of conference matches against Real So Cal and SoCal division leader, Arsenal.

Player: Daniel Metzger
Position: Midfielder
Club: PDA

Daniel Metzger had a standout performance in PDA’s 3-1 win over Oakwood SC on Sunday in his first appearance with the U-17/18 team. The midfielder had a hand in all three goals that gave the New Jersey club the victory. PDA U-17/18 has relied on a high scoring offense to start their season, averaging two goals per game in their first seven games. Although PDA still has two weeks until divisional play begins, Metzger and the squad have started with good performances during the Winter Showcase and cross-conference play this Winter. The U-15/16 team has collected five wins and the U-17/18 team has won three of its first seven games this season.
