U.S. U-17 MNT Depart for Costa Rica and Argentina


CHICAGO (June 14, 2010) -- The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team has departed for Costa Rica and Argentina, for a two-week foreign training camp from June 14-28. Head coach Wilmer Cabrera will lead 24 players for one week in Central America before traveling to Buenos Aires for another week of training and matches against international opponents. The U.S. has two friendlies scheduled against the Costa Rica U-17 MNT on June 16 and June 18, with the schedule for Argentina yet to be finalized.

The roster for the trip is made up exclusively of players born in 1994, with Jan. 1, 1994 the cutoff for players eligible to play in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup. In addition to 18 players who were part of the U-17 MNT Residency Program during the recently completed Spring semester, seven players will be joining the group, bidding for a place in Residency for the fall.
