CHICAGO (Jan. 14) - U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Thomas Rongen has named 16 players to his initial roster for the Copa Chivas tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The team will train from Jan. 20-24 in Bradenton, Fla. in conjunction with the Under-18 Men’s National Team’s Mega-camp. Rongen will take up to five players from the mega-camp to Guadalajara on Jan. 24.
The U.S. will play five games in five days in group play, meaning Rongen will use a number of different lineups to give his players enough rest.
The U.S. will kick off the tournament against America on Saturday, Jan. 26. The following matches in group play will be against Tecos (Jan. 27), Locomotiv de Moscu (Jan. 28), Estudiantes de la Plata (Jan. 29) and Santos (Jan. 30). If the U.S. advances they could move on to the quarterfinals (Jan. 31), semifinals (Feb. 1) or even the final (Feb. 2).
