Referee of the Week: Christina Ibáñez
has been selected as the Development Academy Referee of the Week for her outstanding performance on April 10 in a match between South Conference opponents
A career in refereeing started at a young age for Christina in 1998—before she could even drive herself to her assignments. She is now in her third season of officiating Academy matches, having earned an invitation to the inaugural Development Academy Finals Week in 2008. Christina has worked international friendlies for the U.S. Men’s National Team and U.S. Women’s National Team, as well as MLS scrimmages, WPS, USL, PDL, and W-League matches.
Having recently completed her collegiate playing career, she is now pursuing dual graduate degrees in business administration and law—all while remaining committed to her refereeing career. Christina is quick to credit her achievements to the guidance, support, and knowledge of Florida State Referee community. She thanks those around her; especially her husband and parents who have played crucial roles in her development as a referee.
