U.S. Under-17 MNT Takes First-Minute Lead but Drops Scrimmage to Chicago Fire, 3-1

BRADENTON, Fla. (Feb. 9, 2007) -- The U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team took an early lead, but fell to the Chicago Fire, 3-1, in a scrimmage at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla.

Donovan Henry opened the scoring in the first minute when he intercepted a pass intended for Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch, touched it and placed his shot into the left side of the net. Despite being outshot 17-6 throughout the game, the U.S. held onto its lead until the 73rd minute when Floyd Franks ran onto a long ball and beat USA's second-half goalkeeper Spencer Richey to level the score.

The Fire took its first lead of the day on Patrick Nyarko's first goal of the day in the 79th minute. Nyarko's second of the day came in the 89th minute when he brought down a Zach Pope cross into the box and made the final score 3-1.
