U.S. Paralympic National Team Participating in 2013 Intercontinental Cup

CHICAGO (July 30, 2013) – The U.S. Paralympic National Team is taking part in the 2013 Intercontinental Cup from July 23-Aug. 11 in Barcelona, Spain.

The team lost the first game 6-0 to Ukraine after goals from Ukraine the ninth, 15th, 20th, 50th, 56th and 58 th minutes.

The U.S. drew a spot in Group C along with Ukraine, Portugal and Australia. Portugal beat Australia 1-0 in the first game of group play, and sits in second place in the group behind Ukraine.

Keith Johnson, Gavin Sibayan, Chris Ahrens, Bryce Boarman, Josh McKinney, Rene Renteria and Tyler Bennett started for the U.S. Moises Morales came on as a substitute for Sibayan in the 30th minute.

The team continues group play with a game against Portugal on July 31, and finishes off the group on Aug. 2 against Australia.
