Quote Sheet: U-20 MNT Team Pre-Poland Quotes

Goalkeeper Chris Seitz:
On what his individual role against Poland will be:
I’m going to have to be aware of getting high off my line. They’re a team that likes to hit a lot of crosses. I think the defense and I are going to have to win a lot of balls in the air and be strong in the back

On what the team can improve upon from the first game against South Korea:
We’re just going to have to play better soccer in general, a lot better than we showed against Korea. I definitely think we have it in us to go out and play our game and I think we’ll be alright.

Defender Nathan Sturgis:
On how the team can improve from Saturday's game:
I think we’re going to have to play better in all areas if we’re going to beat Poland. Defensively I think we need to stay more organized and not let them get behind us. Offensively we to possess the ball a little bit more and put them under attack more than we were able to keep South Korea under pressure.

Thomas Rongen:
On what the team will need to do differently against Poland:
We talked about some areas where we need to improve. We need to be sharper with the ball. We need to apply better pressure as a team, and keep our lines more connected. Emotionally I think we can step it up another level and show even more intensity and be a little bit hungrier than we were in the first game.

On their opponent's strenghts:
Poland is a formidable opponent and this time we go with the attitude that we need to get three points against Poland. They’re physical, they’re organized and they have three or four individual players that can make a difference. I think they’re obviously good on dead ball situations, as they showed against Brazil. They’re strength lies within their team unity. They work very hard for each other and they’re hard to break down. They do a good job to go after people when they have the ball. They use a system that is fairly easy to identify, a 4-4-2 but they play it well.

On playing the team that sits in first place in Group D:
I think our team thrives in challenges, and this is a great opportunity to hopefully get ourselves to the top of the group. We recognize that they are a good team and we respect what Poland has done in their European qualifying and in the first game against Brazil.

On achieving their goals for the tournament:
Our first goal really is to get out group play and we have the opportunity to do that in the next two games. We’re looking at it one game at a time and Poland is a team that we need and want to get three points against.
