Academy Players of the Week for the Week of April 26
Club: Empire United
Position: Left Back
Liam Callahan impressed as one of the best players on the field during Empire United’s matches against South Central Premier and Oakwood SC over the weekend. Demonstrating composure throughout the game, Callahan was able to assert his presence offensively from his position at left back while he also showed his defensive ability in his team’s 0-0 draw with Oakwood SC.
At the current point in the season, Empire United is very much in the race for an automatic birth to the Playoffs and the club will enjoy a home stand for the remainder of the regular Academy schedule. This stretch of games will be highlighted by decisive matches with divisional opponents, New England Revolution and FC Greater Boston, taking place on May 15th and May 16th, respectively.
Position: Chicago Fire
Chris Prince’s form over the past few weeks has been instrumental in the Chicago Fire’s unbeaten run through its last six matches. His recent performance against the Kansas City Wizards underlined a weekend that saw Prince score his fourth goal in as many games. Prince has also drawn attention to his strong work ethic and movement off the ball, both of which have certainly had a positive effect on his goal scoring tendencies.
The Chicago Fire find themselves heading in to a series of important matches next month. With seven divisional fixtures to play prior to the Spring Showcase, positive results will undoubtedly put them in the running for an automatic birth to the Playoffs.
