U.S. U-16 Girl's Fall to Germany, 1-0, at Home Depot Center

Carson, Calif. (February 28, 2005) – A late goal by substitute Fatmire Bajramaj was the difference as the German U-17 Women’s National Team downed the U.S. U-16 Girl’s National Team, 1-0, in an 80-minute game at the Home Depot Center.
The match was lacking in attacking chances as both teams combined for just 11 total shots, but it was Germany that made theirs count in the 65th minute as Bajramaj sent a whistling drive into the upper right corner of the net from 18 yards out, leaving U.S. goalkeeper Jorden Kussmann with no chance.

Germany’s goalkeeper Kristina Kober was called for picking up a back pass in the 39th minute, but the USA’s Casey Noguiera hammered the indirect free-kick over the top.  Noguiera had another great chance in the 62nd minute, but Kober turned the hard shot away with a great diving save.

This was the first of two matches between the teams this week.  They will meet again on Thursday, March 3, at the HDC at 10 a.m. PT. The German U-17s will also play two matches against the U.S. U-17s, losing the first one 2-0, on Feb. 27, with the second being played on Wednesday, March 2 at 10 a.m. PT.
