WNT in Algarve Cup/MNT in World Cup Qualifying Preparation Match
[March 9 on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker]
A stern reminder about an upcoming U.S. Soccer-related event, whether you plan to check it out live and in person, on the “telly” or that wacky world wide web.
Okay, so we usually just give you one main game that you can’t miss out on, but you gotta change things up once in awhile. So, this month were giving you two games in the same day that you should check via ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker (presented by Philips Electronics) as we know you’re striving to be one of the most dedicated U.S. Soccer fans out there.
First, the U.S. Women’s National Team will see its first action of 2005 as the team will take on France in southern Portugal for their opening match of the 12th annual Algarve Cup. There’s no better way to start of a year than competing in one of the most competitive women’s international events outside of the Women's World Cup, the Olympics and the European Championship. Especially when we’ve won three of the last five tournaments, bringing home first-place trophies the past two years.
The match kicks off at 11:15 a.m. ET, the perfect time for those on the East Coast to take in the game during their lunch break. And for those in the central, mountain and pacific time zones, well, we know you’re just staring at your computer for the first few hours of work anyway.
After checking out the WNT in the Algarve Cup while at work, close up shop, get some grub at the local take out and plop down in front of your computer at home to take in MatchTracker’s presentation of the MNT against Colombia at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, Calif., starting at 7:30 p.m. PT.
It’s the first of two matches – the other is against Honduras in Albuquerque on March 19 – as the MNT gets prepared for their next two World Cup qualifiers in Mexico on March 27 and then in Birmingham, Ala. on March 30.
See you online!
