Beene Replaces Mullinix on Women's Gold Cup Roster

PASADENA, Calif. (Sunday, October 27, 2002) - In a swap of goalkeepers, LaKeysia Beene has replaced Siri Mullinix on the 2002 U.S. CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup roster.  Mullinix sprained her left thumb last Monday as the USA opened five days of training in San Diego, Calif., then aggravated the injury Saturday at the USA's final training before opening the Women's Gold Cup tournament on Sunday against Mexico, necessitating the change. Beene, who was the USA's starting goalkeeper for most of 2001 and the beginning of 2002, has played eight times for the USA this year and has 12 career caps.
