Matkovich Finalizes 20-Player Roster for Trip to Lisbon Portugal


CHICAGO (May 17, 2010) – U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team head coach Mike Matkovich has finalized a 20-player roster that will participate in the Lisbon International Tournament from May 21-31 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The roster includes eight players who featured for the U.S. at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, including the 2009 U.S. Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year Luis Gil. Three players who have already entered college, Earl Edwards (UCLA), Perry Kitchen (Akron) and Jared Watts (Wake Forest) were also part of the team that reached the Round of 16 in Nigeria.

There are 14 players on the roster who are currently part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy program, including three representing the FC Dallas Juniors – Michael Ambrose, Daniel Garcia and Boyd Okwuonu.

The U.S. will open the four-team tournament against Norway on May 27, continue against Romania on May 28 and round out the event against host Portugal on May 30.
