U.S. Soccer Coaching Symposia to Be Staged in Conjunction with U.S. Women's National Team Send-Off Series

CHICAGO (May 22, 2007) – Soccer coaches around the nation will have an opportunity to join the U.S. Soccer Coaching Department in supporting the U.S. Women’s National Team this summer in advance of the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China. Three separate Coaching Symposia will be held in July and August as part of the USA’s final three Send-Off Series games before they take on the world in China.

The first Coaching Symposium is scheduled for July 27&28 in San Jose, Calif., as the USA takes on Japan. Two weeks later, coaches from around the country will converge in Chicago on Aug. 11 for the USA-New Zealand match at Soldier Field on Aug. 12. The final U.S. Soccer Coaching Symposium of the summer will be staged at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., on Aug. 24&25 with the U.S. Women taking on Finland just days before their China departure.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for coaches at every level to get first hand access into the preparation for a World Cup,” said Director of Coaching and Youth Development Bob Jenkins. “You’ve got the best team in the world and their coaches dissecting their preparation just days before the Women’s World Cup begins. This is a unique opportunity for coaches in the United States.”

Cost for each symposium is $70 for active U.S. Soccer CoachesNet members and $85 for non-members. Registration includes a ticket to the game, a personalized symposium packet and a Kwik Goal gift. Registration is open to all coaches. Space is limited and coaches are strongly encouraged to apply early. “A” licensed coaches will earn two Continuing Education Units for attending each of the two-day symposiums.
