Post-Match Quote Sheet: U.S. MNT vs. Canada

U.S. MNT goalkeeper TIM HOWARD
On facing Antigua & Barbuda and Guatemala in World Cup qualifying:
“They're two different teams. Going away from qualifying is always difficult, so that will be a big challenge for us against Guatemala. For Antigua, we're at home so we need to win that game. We need to really put a lot of pressure on them and make them feel like they're going to be in a really difficult game. It won't look too much like tonight, I don't think, but I could be wrong.”

On the match against Canada:
“I thought it was good. It's kind of the hump game, so maybe you expect a little bit of that. I thought tonight we played pretty well. We controlled most parts of the game. We were fortunate at the end when we got a little bit sloppy and almost paid the price. But having said that we went down to the other end and created quite a few chances ourselves. It was good to get a clean sheet. All in all we want to come up here and try to win the game, but lots of positives to take out of it as well.”

U.S. MNT defender CARLOS BOCANEGRA
On the draw against Canada:
“Unfortunately we didn't create or do enough to break them down. I didn't think we played behind them enough to stretch them out. Saying that, they did a good job with their structure and getting people behind the ball and they made it really difficult for us.”

On how the team performed against Canada:
“Good. I thought we played pretty well. I thought we were pretty solid. We limited them with chances but any international match you're going to have to deal with a few things and I thought we dealt with them well. I thought Clarence [Goodson] had a good game and Edgar [Castillo] played really well. It was a little bit of a frustrating game overall. We're a bit disappointed we didn't come out with a win but we didn't come out of here with a loss. We didn't get frustrated and open ourselves up and lose the game.”

U.S. MNT defender CLARENCE GOODSON
On getting the start against Canada:
“I certainly hoped I'd get a start at some point. I think it went OK. We'd have liked to get the win but on the night I thought we had the better chances. Canada had one chance where they certainly should have scored, but other than that I thought we played well.”
