U.S. U-20 MNT Tops Canada in Friendly in Florida


BOCA RATON, Fla. (Dec. 16, 2010) -- The U.S. U-20 Men's National Team picked up a 2-0 win against Canada in the first of a pair of friendlies in Boca Raton, Fla., behind goals from Soony Saad and Jack McInerney.

Saad opened the scoring for the U.S. in the 34th minute, receiving the ball at the top of the penalty area and firing a shot into the right side of the net. Jack McInerney doubled the U.S. lead in teh second half, running onto a long ball from centerback Sebastien Ibeagha and chipping the final shot over Canada goalkeeper Robert Stillo and into the net.

U.S. goalkeeper Kevin Piedrahita is credited with the shutout in his first cap for the U.S. U-20 MNT.

The U.S. has been in Ft. Lauderdale for a week-long training camp under head coach Thomas Rongen, and will round out the camp with another friendly match against Canada on Saturday, Dec. 18.
