Update from Men's National Team Training Camp

CLAREMONT, Calif. (Saturday, January 12, 2002) - With the prospect of a break on the horizon, the U.S. team completed its eighth straight day of training with another double session.  The morning workout gave the players a shot at their favorite exercises, Arena electing to have the side work on finishing. The afternoon session involved a 50-minute 11 v. 11 game.  The effects of intense training were clearly visible, players on both sides offering whatever energy they had left in the tank.  Landon Donovan got in behind the defense on a well-placed baseline cross from Eddie Lewis to net the game's only goal.  Carlos Bocanegra missed today's training due to food poisoning, while Brian Maisonneuve suffered a mild groin strain and sat out the afternoon as a precaution. The team will be given Sunday off, with training resuming Monday morning.
