Clint Dempsey Answers Fans' Questions in Brussels

Last week ussoccer.com asked its Twitter followers for questions for Tim Howard and Brek Shea. In Brussels, we told fans to ask U.S. MNT midfielder Clint Dempsey anything. The response was great – including from Stuart Holden – and here’s how Deuce answered:

TheeSickPupFan: Clint, what's the best part about playing for the USMNT or any team period?
Clint Dempsey: Being able to represent your country and play in competitions like the World Cup.

liz_n_TX: Is there something that Clint Dempsey misses about Texas? #USMNT
CD: I miss Mexican food, bass fishing and my family.

americanboxcar: What is Clint Dempsey's most memorable goal? #USMNT
CD: Scoring in the 2006 World Cup.

ShepherdLashley: Clint, how has playing in Europe changed your game? Thanks!
CD: It's given me more experience at a higher level.

nickp09: Clint, in your opinion who is the best player you have ever played with or against?
CD: I played against Zidane when the MLS All Stars played against Real Madrid in one of their preseason games. [Ed. Note: We asked him "why?" - Clint's answer: He's Zidane.]

stuholden: What does Clint like most about Stuart Holden and how is he so good at fishing??
CD: I like his highlights and the fact that he's got the smallest head in the world. I'm not actually that good at fishing. You can ask Steve Ralston. He used to beat me all the time in New England.

domersh: Clint, what is your favorite breakfast food?
CD: Favorite breakfast food is waffles, bacon, eggs and hash browns. Basically just go to Waffle House.

BrianAbernethy: What made him start wearing the #8 for the National Team?
CD: I wanted to wear No. 2, but Frankie Hejduk kept getting it because he was older than me. I decided I'd finally get a number and stick with it, and then since I scored with the No. 8 in the World Cup I just kept it. I thought it was good luck.

adanD23: how did it feel to play in the Europa final against Athletico Madrid
CD: It was bittersweet. It was awesome to be in a Europa League final but frustrating not to start the game.

THATNUMBR9: How did you get the nickname Deuce? Who made it up?
CD: I gave it to myself! It just turns out the first number I ever had was No. 2. I ended up wearing that number in college and also with the New England Revolution. That was the time I did that "Don't Tread" track.
