U.S. U-17 MNT AND COLOMBIA DRAW FOR SECOND TIME IN MIAMI

LAUDERHILL, Fla. (Aug. 15, 2009) -- The U.S. U-17 Men's National Team played to a 2-2 draw against Colombia in a game that was cut short by lightning in the 80th minute, the second of a two-game series at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Fla. The two World Cup-bound teams also drew 1-1 on Wednesday evening.

Juan Agudelo gave the U.S. a 40th minute lead and began a spurt of 15 minutes surrounding halftime in which all four goals were scored. Edwin Corona leveled the scoring four minutes later, but Alex Shinksy scored just two minutes after half to put the Americans back on top. Juan Saiz rounded out the scoring in the 55th minute.

The U.S. has been drawn into Group E of the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria with Spain, Malawi and the United Arab Emirates. The U.S., the only country to qualify for all 13 FIFA U-17 World Cups dating back to 1985, will play the first two group games against Spain on Oct. 26 and Malawi on Oct. 29, in Kano before moving to Ijebu-Ode to close out the first round against UAE on Nov. 1.
