"The demand to see Mia Hamm and the rest of these female soccer stars has been overwhelming," said Ellie Singer, chairperson of the local organizing committee. "The Minnesota soccer community, including youth, amateur and the general soccer fan, are coming from every corner of the state to see this game."
The reserved section has been expanded on the west side of the stadium. Additional general admission seats will be added behind both goals in order to meet the demand for tickets between now and the game, according to Thunder officials. In this expanded format, the National Sports Center will be able to hold more than 16,000 spectators.
The largest attended soccer match in the 11-year history of the National Sports Center occurred on June 16, 1997, when 15,412 fans saw Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy defeat the Minnesota Thunder 3-2 in a shootout.

Ticket prices are $30 reserved, $20 adult general admission and $15 youth general admission. The National Sports Center will charge $5 per car for parking at this event.

Golden Valley-based General Mills will sponsor the nationally televised USA-Canada match live on ESPN. General Mills is expected to hand out mini-sized boxes of Wheaties Energy Crunch, its newest brand of cereal, to all fans in attendance.
The Minnesota Thunder, founded in 1990, is a second-division professional soccer franchise that plays in the Western Conference of the 21-team A-League. The Thunder's home schedule runs May through September at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
