In the other semifinal CD Guadalajara, winners of the wild card spot, will face Tigres (of Mexico), the winner of Bracket B on Friday at 6 p.m. at Lake Highlands Stadium. "I saw Newcastle play their final group game against UNAM Pumas on Wednesday night and they are definitely a solid club," head coach John Ellinger said. "They are very good at going forward and have a lot of speed, so we will be challenged. We’re looking forward to a good game."

The U.S. Under-17 MNT will try to be the first American team to win the U-19 Super Group. Since the conception of the U-19 Super Group in 1990 (Dallas Cup XI) no team from the U.S. has been able to win the group. Only teams from England (two times), Mexico, Brazil (five), Argentina, Spain, Russia and Bolivia have taken home the championship trophy.

Newcastle United FC won all three of its matches in Bracket C of the U-19 Super Group, scoring nine goals and only allowing one. Out of all 12 teams in the Super Group, Newcastle was the only team to win all three of its games in Bracket play, for a group high nine points. Newcastle defeated the Chicago Magic 1-0 in its first game and then followed that up with a 2-1 win over Deportivo Saprissa (of Costa Rica). On Wednesday night, Newcastle cemented its place in the semifinals with a dominating 6-0 victory over UNAM Pumas (of Mexico).

The U.S. Under-16 Men’s National Team went undefeated in Bracket G of the U-17 Group in the Dallas Cup, going 2-0-1, but was unable to move on due to a lower goal differential. The Dallas Texans, who the U-16’s tied 3-3 in their first game of the tournament, won the bracket with a plus-6 goal differential (the U.S. had plus-5) and moved on to the quarterfinals. "The guys played really well during the tournament and came away with two quality wins and a hard-fought tie," head coach John Ellinger said. "Even though we weren’t able to move on, the players should be proud of how they played in an older age group."

The Under-17 and Under-16 Men’s National Teams went through a light workout this morning at Westcott Field on the campus of Southern Methodist University. The practice was only about an hour as most of the Under-17 players warmed-up and then played a game of keep away, with two players in the middle of a tight circle. The U-16’s played a short field game with regulation goals, working on shooting and finishing.

With the day off, the players and staff are planning on heading over to a local mall and possibly catching a movie after lunch. It was undecided which movie the players would see, but the majority was pushing for "Anger Management" with Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson.

Being back in Dallas has been fun for U.S. Under-17 players Chase Wileman, Adrian Chevannes and Jamie Watson, All from the Dallas area, the boys have gotten to see their families and friends in between games and training sessions. Their teammates have also reaped the benefits of their homecoming, as Mrs. Watson brought chocolate chip and M&M cookies for the entire team. Even coach Ellinger, who was disappointed there weren’t any molasses cookies, got the royal treatment from Mrs. Watson. After Jamie told her his coach loves molasses cookies, she made a special trip to the store and got some for the entire coaching staff. Also, some of the players got to see where Watson and Wileman live, going to their homes for a home-cooked dinner this week.
