U.S. U-20 WNT Heads to Spain for Ten Nations Tournament and First International Matches of 2011

CARSON, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2010) -- The U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team under the direction of head coach April Heinrichs will travel to La Manga, Spain, from Feb. 28-March 9 for three games at the Ten Nations Tournament. The USA will face Sweden (March 4), England (March 6) and Norway (March 8). There is no winner in the tournament as each team will play three friendly matches. Also participating in the tournament are Scotland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Denmark and Italy. There will be five games on each of the three match days. The 18-players chosen for the trip were all born in 1992 and 1993. The squad is led by midfielder Samantha Mewis, who has already played in a U-17 and a U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup, midfielder Mandy Laddish of NCAA champion Notre Dame, midfielder Morgan Brian, the 2010 Parade Girls’ Soccer player of the Year, Mollie Pathman, the 2010 Gatorade Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year, and forward Lindsay Horan, the leading scorer for the U.S. U-17s in 2010.
