U.S. U-15 BNT Routs Panama 4-0 for First Win at Copa Mexico de Naciones


Joe Gallardo Jr. Scores Brace as USA Prepares for Group B Finale Against Uruguay on Monday

MEXICO CITY (Aug. 11, 2013) – The U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team earned its first victory at the Copa Mexico de Naciones, routing Panama 4-0 in Group B play.

Joe Gallardo Jr. led the way with two goals, giving the USA a 2-0 lead in the 29th minute and tallying the team’s final goal in the 50th minute. Copa Mexico games are 70 minutes long.

Joshua Perez scored the game’s opening goal in the 13th minute, and that proved to be the game-winner. Christian Pulisic added a penalty kick tally in the 31st minute to give the U.S. a 3-0 advantage.

With the victory, the U.S. U-15s are 1-1-0 and in third place in Group B while Panama drops to 0-2-0 and in last place in the group. The USA faces Uruguay (1-0-1) on Monday in the final group stage match. Uruguay is coming off a 2-2 draw against Brazil (1-0-1).
