CHICAGO (Tuesday, June 17, 2002) - In commemoration of today's one-year anniversary of the U.S. Men's National Team 2-0 victory over Mexico in the Round of 16 at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, we share with you this great photo essay from passionate U.S. fan Douglas Zimmerman, a freelance photographer who made the trip to Korea to support the team.
"For me attending the 1994 World Cup match between Italy and Nigeria introduced me to the passion and excitement of the Cup. In 2002, I traveled to Korea to support my team, as the fans from other countries did in coming to the U.S. in 1994. Being a photographer, I wanted to document the experience first-hand. Hopefully my photos show the thrill, ecstasy, and agony of being a die-hard U.S. Soccer supporter last summer in Korea."
