Morgan Brian Scores Twice as U.S. U-17 WNT Defeat Argentina 2-0 in Buenos Aires

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Dec. 11, 2009) – The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team won its third consecutive match during a four-game event in Buenos Aires, Argentina, defeating the Argentina U-17 Women’s National Team, 2-0, with both goals coming from midfielder Morgan Brian. The only holdover from the team that finished second at the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand, Brian opened the scoring just two minutes into the match with her third goal in three games. Brian added her second in the 14th minute as she headed in a corner kick from Caprice Dydasco. The USA allowed Argentina just one shot over the 90 minutes and goalkeeper Abby Smith picked up the shutout. The USA defeated Chile’s U-17s 7-0 on Dec. 7 and Argentina’s U-20s 4-1 on Dec.11. The U.S. U-17s will face a combined U-17/U-20 squad from Uruguay on Dec. 13 in its final match of the Argentina trip.
