U-17s to play England on Friday after falling, 3-0, to Austria
CHICAGO (Wednesday, April 26, 2000) - The U.S. U-17s finished second in their group and will play England on Friday (April 28) for a chance to play the winner of Holland/Scotland match for fifth place at the Balleymena Tournament in Northern Ireland. The week long tournament featured 12 teams from around the world, with each team being placed in one of three groups. The USA was placed in a group that consisted of N. Ireland, Austria and Holland. The top three teams from each group will advance to the semifinals and the best overall second place finisher would advance as well. The USA and N. Ireland both finished with the same amount of points but N. Ireland will go through on a better goal differential as the fourth team in the semifinals, joining Austria, Switzerland and Israel.
