U.S. Under-17 WNT Opens Year in Florida With Two Matches Against Germany
CHICAGO (Jan. 30, 2011) – The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team kicks off a big year in Sunrise, Fla., with a training camp running from Feb. 3-11 that will include two matches against the German U-17 WNT.
U.S. head coach Albertin Montoya has called in 24 players for the event, which will see the USA square off with the Germans on Feb. 6 and Feb. 9, with both games kicking off at 3:30 p.m. ET. Montoya is preparing his team for CONCACAF Qualifying in Guatemala City, Guatemala, from May 2-13 that will send three teams to the 2012 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan, scheduled to run from Sept. 22-Oct. 13.
Matches against Germany at the beginning of the year in Florida have become an almost annual event for this age group. Last year in Sunrise, the USA won and tied against the Germans.
