U.S. U-20 MNT Brings in Omar Salgado for International Matches against Uruguay, Chile

U-20 Head Coach Tab Ramos Adjusts 20-Player Roster for Injured Luis Gil

CHICAGO (June 1, 2012) – U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team head coach Tab Ramos has called in forward Omar Salgado to his team’s roster after midfielder Luis Gil went down with an injury during training this week.

The 18-year-old Salgado was the top selection in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the Vancouver Whitecaps. Salgado has been a part of the U-20 team since 2010, when he scored his first international goal in his debut on July 26 during the USA’s 1-0 victory against China in the 2010 Milk Cup international youth tournament in Northern Ireland.

Salgado, a native of El Paso, Texas, also was a member of the U.S. U-17 Residency Program in the fall of 2008.

The U.S. U-20 MNT is finishing up its domestic training camp on June 3 at the Houston Amateur Sports Park, the permanent training home of Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo. Then the team travels for two matches against Uruguay on June 6 and 8, followed by a June 12 game against Chile in Santiago.
