U-17 MNT Training Camp Set for Miami

CHICAGO (Aug. 6, 2009) – U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team head coach Wilmer Cabrera will bring 26 players into a week-long training camp from August 6-15 in Miami, Fla. that will include two international friendlies against Colombia. The first game will be played on Wednesday, August 12, and the second on Saturday, August 15, before the team departs. It will be the team’s last training camp before the fall semester of Residency resumes at the IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla.

Of the 26 players who will be in Miami, 16 were part of the team that successfully qualified for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup that will take place from Oct. 24-Nov. 15 in Nigeria. The U-17 MNT will learn its first round opponents on Friday afternoon once the draw is held in Abuja, Nigeria. Additionally, 21 of the players recently returned from a first place finish at the Copa Macae tournament in Brazil, with Keith Cardona, Dustin Corea, Donovan Henry, Alfred Koroma and Ryan Zinkhan joining those 21 players in Florida.
