U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team Head Coach Richie Williams Names 20-Player Roster for CONCACAF Championship in Panama:
U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach Richie Williams has named 20 players to the U.S. roster for the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship in Panama City, Panama. The U.S. will face Guatemala and Haiti in its attempt to qualify for the 2013 FIFA World Cup in the United Arab Emirates from Oct. 17-Nov. 8. Q&A with U-17 Men’s National Team Head Coach Richie Williams: U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach Richie Williams named his 20-player roster Tuesday for the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship, which takes place in Panama. Williams discusses the team in place and the preparation involved as the U-17s prepare for Sunday’s group opener against Haiti.

U.S. Soccer, Nike Host Youth Futsal Invitational Events: With an emphasis on developing the U-13/14 age level, U.S. Soccer, in partnership with Nike, is hosting a youth futsal event from April 19-24 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. LAST WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS:

West Conference:

  • Seattle Sounders FC U-15/16 took down Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-15/16 by a score of 3-1 in their Northwest derby. Seattle trailed 1-0 early but a second half brace by Ryan Schaefer sealed the win.

East Conference:

  • FC DELCO U-17/18 was the highest scoring team of the week as they saw four different players find the back of the net in their 4-0 win against Richmond Kickers U-17/18, FC DELCO’s third consecutive win and second consecutive clean sheet.

PEAK PERFORMER
Player of the Week: Daniel Apajee, New England Revolution U-15/16
Daniel Apajee found the net twice, once in the game’s opening minutes and again in the 80th minute as the New England Revolution U-15/16 defeated BW Gottschee U-15/16 3-1. The win puts the Revolution in fourth place of the Eastern Conference’s Northeast Division.
